About Derek Croley

Derek Croley is the owner and head instructor at White Oak Martial Arts in Asheville.

He has more than 40 years of training and over 35 years of teaching experience, with Black Belts or equivalent ranks in more than ten martial arts disciplines. He has trained internationally and is the author of two books focused on personal mastery and effective training.

Derek is known for his clear, practical teaching style and his ability to meet students where they are. He is deeply committed to helping both kids and adults build real confidence, discipline, and usable skills—whether they are stepping onto the mat for the first time or continuing a long-term martial arts journey.

His focus goes beyond technique. Derek believes martial arts should support personal growth, strong character, and a sense of responsibility, and he takes pride in mentoring students and instructors in a way that creates lasting positive change for individuals and families.

About Evelyn Croley

Evelyn Croley is a lead instructor at White Oak Martial Arts in Asheville and has trained in martial arts from an early age, progressing through every level of the school’s programs. She holds multiple Black Belts and instructor certifications, including Krav Maga and Superfoot, and has trained with respected masters across the country.

Evelyn is known for her calm, supportive teaching style and her ability to connect with students of all ages. She places a strong emphasis on clear instruction, positive leadership, and helping each student build confidence and skill at their own pace.

Whether working with kids, teens, or adults, Evelyn is deeply committed to creating a welcoming environment where students feel encouraged, challenged, and supported as they grow—both on and off the mat.
